The Reinasance was an era when people started to think about doing something different. Many great things were made, painted and sculptured, like the Mona Lisa and the Statue of David(made by Leonardo da Vinci. A lot of inventions were made that we use in ordinary life like the printing press and even the toilet. Before the Reinasance era, the main power was the christian church and every one had to do what the church said. But people started to think different and for what you might want to say used their heads. Galileo one of the greatest scientist of all time, he studied in mathematics and astronomy (study of stars). Here's some information on the Renaissance.. We think you will like it!
Below on this page are some inventions, created during the Renaissance. Enjoy. Galileo Thermometer First we have the Galileo Thermometer. To your left, you'll see three of them. These were never wildly produced as soon afterwards famous physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit created the practical smaller version, just as effective thermometer with mercury used. The mercury would rise upwards and expand when hot leaving you with the temperature. Later on, after he died the Fahrenheit 'F' symbol was used on for measuring the temperature. This was named in memory of him.
1400's Musket Third we have the musket firearm. They were made in 1400 and used until 1870, undergoing major advances along the way. They fired musket balls and took forever to reload, while being one shot and not very accurate. They were mainly used for their cheaper price than other firearms.
Finally, we have the Printing Press, one of the most well known inventions of the Renaissance Era, created by Johannes Guttenberg in 1436. This mechanical revolution was a huge step forwards for books. Now people could print off books. It took 4 years of printing to print the Guttenberg Bible, a 1,300 page long book with finely detailed pages and patterns on them. However, it took two people at once in order to print a page. It was a long and painful process compared to our unmanned printers today. This device allowed for many books and cheaper books. It also made the newspaper at your house possible. Those were five inventions of the Renaissance Era above. I hoped you enjoyed. By Cian Perill, The Editor of CBS Latest News
Today we presented out projects on Spain. It was really interesting and we even had a Spanish food tasting thanks to our very own Abbie Fitzgerald! (Abbie's Dad is a chef and he created some incredible Spanish dishes for us to try.. Thanks Seamus!)

Today we went to the museum to learn about Saint Bridget.Ann (S.N.A) came with us to help. The Clare museum is opposite to the temple gate. We left after break and, when we got there, the curator, John, welcomed us in, he took us into a small room with a very small area where we sat down on the ground. There we were introduced to a storyteller, Ruth, who is Scottish and from Kilbride. She told us stories about Saint Bridget and it was very entertaining, she also helped us make crosses. (Along with Ann and Mr.Davoren). I found making the crosses hard at first, but it got very easy. We headed back to school at about 12:40 and along the way Mr.Davoren went to the shop to get us sweets, which was very nice. I personally had a great day and I hope you one too.
